This Is Why No One Likes World of Warcraft Anymore
I just wrote this comment on Facebook to explain to someone how to gear up in World of Warcraft if you don’t have the connections with raiding guilds or the raiding background (you have a better chance of getting a good job in today’s market than getting into a raiding guild that will let you raid).
It’s no wonder people are leaving World of Warcraft by the millions.
If you can’t raid in a raiding guild due to a lack of connections or strong raiding background (which is the vast majority of people who play WoW, hence they they introduced LFR), you can always go with the LFR route:
The current process to get gear is simple but arduous:
Run heroic dungeons to get 463 gear. Supplement gear with either crafted or auction house purchased 458 PVP gear.
Do the dailies in the Isle of Thunder and find a chest (or kill rare mobs) that gives you the epic key to the Thunder King’s treasure trove. Run the Treasure Trove solo dungeon and get as many chests as possible (don’t try to finish the dungeon, it’s too hard and not worth the effort).
In doing all of this, you’ll get coins that you can use to roll twice on each raid boss. There is an NPC in your Pandaria city which will change lesser coins for Mogu coins which will eventually be usable in the Throne of Thunder raid when you can access it.
You need an average item level of 460 for the Mogushan Vaults. Run the first two Mogushan Vault raids and then the other two Mogushan Vault raids and repeat over and over again and use all your coins to get as many gear upgrades as possible.
If you don’t get enough gear to get to the next set of raids (Heart of Fear and the Terrace of Endless Spring require an average item level of 470), you need to come back next week and try again.
Get more coins from the Isle of Thunder…
Repeat until you can access Heart of Fear and the Terrace of Endless Spring and repeat that until you get an average item level of 480 for the Throne of Thunder raid. You will need the Mogu coins you’ve been collecting from the city NPC.
At this point, you can also run heroic scenarios (minimum item level 480) which give a very low, daily chance of 516 gear.
Repeat the raid until you reach the next item level requirement for the new Orgrimmar raid (I believe it’s item level 500).
