Religiosity vs Wealth
I don’t know how I came across Brint Montgomery’s (philosophy professor at Southern Nazarene University) blog but I found this interesting. He posts and comments on an graph linking religiosity to low GDP per capita he grabbed from an Alan Wolfe article from The Atlantic:
I’m not sure I really have much to say except the US is an exception for many reasons. One of these is dollar hegemony and coasting on the post-WWII sails. As the Tea Party and Christian Conservative Right gain more power in this country, we’re going to move further left on this chart. That’s probably because the more religious you are, the more likely you are to not give a crap about wealth redistribution – i.e., religious people hate the poor.
